Flector Patch Information:
This medicine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain caused by minor strains, sprains, and bruises. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine comes with a Medication Guide approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. WASH YOUR HANDS before and right after you handle this medicine. DO NOT REMOVE THIS MEDICINE FROM THE POUCH until you are ready to apply it. Be sure to reseal the pouch right away to keep unused patches from drying out. DO NOT APPLY THE PATCH to broken, damaged, or irritated skin. TO APPLY THE PATCH, first remove the protective liner, then apply the patch to the most painful area, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Press firmly and make sure the edges stick well to the skin. DO NOT WEAR THE PATCH while taking a bath or shower. Take your bath or shower between the time when you remove a used patch and apply a new one. IF THE PATCH BEGINS TO FALL OFF, tape the edges down to secure it. AFTER REMOVING THE USED PATCH, fold over with the sticky side together. Discard the patch out of reach of children and pets. THIS MEDICINE IS FOR USE ON THE SKIN ONLY. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get this medicine in your eye, wash the eye out with water or saline right away. Contact your doctor if irritation persists for more than 1 hour. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), in the sealed pouch, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Throw away any unused patches 3 months after opening the pouch. The pouch is NOT child-resistant. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 patches at once.
THIS MEDICINE IS A NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUG (NSAID). It may cause an increased risk of serious and sometimes fatal heart and blood vessel problems (eg, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots). The risk may be greater if you already have heart problems or if you take this medicine for a long time. Do not use this medicine right before or after bypass heart surgery. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE AN INCREASED RISK OF SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL STOMACH ULCERS AND BLEEDING. Elderly patients may be at greater risk. This may occur without warning signs. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (eg, enalapril), anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), aspirin, azole antifungals (eg, itraconazole, voriconazole), bisphosphonates (eg, risedronate), clopidogrel, corticosteroids (eg, prednisone), cyclosporine, direct factor XA inhibitors (eg, rivaroxaban), diuretics (eg, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide), heparin, prasugrel, probenecid, lithium, methotrexate, other NSAIDs (eg, ibuprofen), quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin), rifamycins (eg, rifampin), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (eg, fluoxetine), tenofovir, or medicines that may harm the liver (eg, acetaminophen, ketoconazole, isoniazid, certain medicines for HIV, certain antibiotics or seizure medicines). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including skin problems (eg, eczema, skin inflammation); infection, burn, or wound at the application site; or a history of kidney or liver problems, stomach or bowel problems (eg, bleeding, perforation, ulcers), swelling or fluid buildup, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps), mouth inflammation, high blood pressure, blood disorders (eg, porphyria), bleeding or clotting problems, heart problems (eg, heart failure), blood vessel disease, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you are at risk for any of these diseases. TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you have poor health, smoke, drink alcohol, or if you have a history of alcohol abuse. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have recently had or will be having bypass heart surgery, your skin at the application site is broken or damaged, you have severe kidney problems, or if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include minor burning, itching, or irritation at the application site. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; severe or persistent irritation at the application site; unusual joint or muscle pain; or unusual tiredness or weakness. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience bloody or black, tarry stools; change in the amount of urine produced; chest pain; confusion; depression; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; mental or mood changes; numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; ringing in the ears; seizures; severe headache or dizziness; severe or persistent stomach pain or nausea; severe vomiting or diarrhea; shortness of breath; sudden or unexplained weight gain; swelling of hands, legs, or feet; unusual bruising or bleeding; vision or speech changes; symptoms of liver problems (eg, dark urine, pale stools, persistent loss of appetite, yellowing of skin or eyes); vomit that looks like coffee grounds; or wheezing. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; trouble breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
